ROBOTS
Industrial robots are robot systems used for manufacturing. They are programmable, automated and able to move in 3 or more axes. They are used for handling, painting, welding, assembly, packaging, dissasembly, labeling, palletizing, inspection and more. The most popular is robotic arm – Articulated robot that can be also called manipulator arm. They have several degrees of freedom. Other types are cartesian coordinate robots, cylindrical coordinate robots, spherical coordinate robots, SCARA robots and Delta robots.
Important parameters are Payload (also known as carrying capacity – how much can be lifted), Degrees of freedom (number of axes), Operating system, Working space (working envelope), Speed, acceleration, Accuracy, Repeatability (precision). They can have direct drive or gear drive (electric motors).
Robots can be equiped with variety of EOT (end-of-arm tooling) like grippers, MIG-welding guns, spot welders, welding torch, spray guns, grinding, deburring devices, vacuum equipment or magnets, sensors, etc…
